Information
Caustic soda liquid - also known as caustic soda or caustic liquid. Under standard conditions, the substance is a liquid, colourless or slightly yellowish liquid. To the touch, it resembles soap. In terms of properties, caustic is an aggressive alkali that can destroy metal surfaces, is highly soluble in water, is quite hygroscopic and may have a slight crystalline precipitate.
Sodium hydroxide is widely used in most industries. In particular, it is required for the neutralisation and saponification of fats. Sodium hydroxide is a good component of tetrametric analyses because it is used as a catalyst.
Caustic soda is also used to produce high-quality pulp. It is used to separate the lignin protein from the fibres. In addition, materials, especially paper, that require an alkaline environment for production are treated with soda.
In the food industry, caustic soda is used as an emulsifier E524 to soften certain products and add a caramel colour to drinks and sweets.
It is transported in tank trucks and Eurocubes.
